The Fire Island Synagogue (”FIS”) was founded in 1954. Today we offer fully egalitarian services that blend tradition and innovation with prayer, learning, and joyful music that is open and accessible across denominations.
Our informal island atmosphere, where kippah and tallit often accompany shorts and sandals, is welcoming to visitors and guests, as well as our regular congregants most of whom come from the tri-state area. Our congregation is inter-generational and includes members from a variety of backgrounds.
We invite you to come and partake of our Shabbat experience and the vibrant religious and cultural programs that we offer to the whole community.
