The Fire Island Synagogue (“FIS”) was founded in 1954 and offers an egalitarian conservative-style service in an informal island atmosphere. Shorts and sandals are welcome! FIS is a unique vacation community where generations of congregants have come of age and have joined together in prayer, learning, and celebration. We serve members from a variety of Jewish backgrounds and the congregation welcomes all.
The Synagogue is generally open for the summer season from Memorial Day weekend through the High Holidays and Succot. It is located on the corner of B Street and Central Avenue in Seaview.
